Locating light curves for specific objects

  • kkwitter by kkwitter

    Hi,
I have used a dozen or so Kepler candidates in the past for a college XSP class activity (based on an activity used at BU). But now that old. planethunters.org is no longer functional, I am having difficulty figuring out how to find particular objects. I need to locate their light curves so my students can do this activity.

All the targets have SPH designations, e.g., SPH10002911

    Thanks!
    Karen

    Maybe you try https://oldtalk.planethunters.org/

Thanks, but that's no help - I'm told that site is not working anymore - It didn't load objects I tried to find.

Can anyone simply tell me how to find a specific object on the new Planet Hunters site?

    Thanks!

    Maybe try this:

    http://oldtalk.planethunters.org/groups/SPH10002911

Also the oldtalk "search" works, so if you have any KIC/KID numbers maybe try searching for those.

And note if you have any old links, be sure to change them to "oldtalk" as shown above and then they should work.

Thanks, ajamyajax - when I choose "examine star" I get:
    "failed to get light_curve datahttp://s3.amazonaws.com/ph-stars-production/APH10002911.json

And "examine star" is what I want - the plotted light curve and the ability to scale it and characterize the transit. If there's a way to do it in new planet hunters, I'd appreciate knowing about it.

All the stars have SPH numbers - I'll try to see if these other prefixes work.

Sorry, ajamyajax - you were right! My flash was out of dat and that's why I couldn't load the light curve. Now it works!
    Thanks again!

Dear Karen, glad you got it working. And many thanks for being an educator too. Appreciate your efforts there for all of our benefit.
