How could you tell this was a simulation?

It seems like the transit would be indistinguishable from the background? Are there any tips for identifying these "hidden" transits?

Sometimes, you simply won't be able to tell. The simulations are designed so that the big ones should almost always be detectable, but that the small ones are only sometimes detectable. If, for example, we only find 50% of the simulations of small planets, then if we find 5 real small planets, then we probably know that there are 10 total, but we just missed 50% of them.
