Help understanding this one

    It looks like there is a transit, but then the overall slow-period variance seems hit by more frequent variations above and below the average light curve.

    Can someone tell me what's going on?

    It's like that the star just has starpots on it. These will cause hills and troughs in the data on a timescale roughly half of what the star's rotation period is. (Most stars orbit on the scale of a few to ~90 days.) If there are multiple starspots on a star, the hills/troughs can be a lot more complex.
