What causes a pattern like this? (Looks like a f=sin(20t)*sin(t) function)

The first day i started browsing planets on planethunters, i was not registered. I stumbled upon this, and when I zoomed in, I noticed that it looked remarkably like a sin(20t)*sin(t) sort of graph.

I tried looking around for features or id numbers to find some variable I could save so that i could link it to others or save it for myself, but then i decided to click register and i lost the chance to save it.

But my real question is: what would cause a phasing like this? Also as a secondary question, has anyone stumbled upon this particular star or others like it? And how many stars are we actually browsing here (What is the chance that someone reading this would've stumbled upon it)?

This looks to me like a Gamma Doradus variable https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamma_Doradus_variable,

or maybe a Delta Scuti variable https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta_Scuti_variable

I don't know much about them, but apparently these variable types have non-radial pulsations which give rise to the modulated pulsation pattern which you observed.

Here is a collection of similar examples http://talk.planethunters.org/#/collections/CPHS000287

Wow, some of those look amazing! Thank you.

And yeah, it looks almost identical to some of the ones in the gamma doradus variable collection.
