Alien Music

I can't help but wonder what this star would sound like if its fluctuations in brightness were converted to sound.

I'm well aware of nature's tendency to suggest design (I like to think of it as humanity's tendency to imitate nature in its design), but I can't help wondering if this isn't an extra terrestrial signal meant for any and all beings capable of recognizing a musical pattern.

Wouldn't that be a most excellent method for getting the attention of an alien civilization?

This is a common pattern, and really it only looks like that because of the cadence in which the data was taken. As far as turning light curves into audio, we've done a little of that here: http://oldtalk.planethunters.org/science/discussions/DPH101e72q

So this a single star (RR Lyrae?) that's pulsating at some harmonic freq in relation to the sampling rate?

No, it is not a RR Lyrae star. The pattern suggest an eclipsing binary with a period of 0.411916 days. However, this is a FalsePositive as zoo3hans mentioned, see: http://keplerebs.villanova.edu/overview/?k=4473355.
