KESIDE | Kepler Signal Detector first "alpha" version (0.0.8a) now available

  • ianhenderson by ianhenderson

    Hi,

Regulars may know me. My name is Ian Henderson, and I occasionally pop by having been a regular in the past.

Some of the longer-term users may remember that I have been working on a mathematical procedure for picking out possible transit-signals from the Kepler data - as procedure I have called the "Kepler Signal Detector" or KESIDE. (You may recall that during development KESIDE found a co-transit event in one system that is observable only every 50 years - unfortunately, since the format change here I cannot now find the link.)

After eight months, I have now completed the first "alpha" or experimental version of the detector as a suite of LibreOffice-compatible, or open document format, spreadsheets. The documentation is incomplete - but will take you through how to work with the clearest signals as least, and includes KOI00001.01 as an example. I'm now working through the published catalogues and will update the documentation on how to deal with weaker signals and binary systems shortly. For now, feel free to take a look and explore KESIDE.
